About Organized Bee
Meet the Queen Bee
I’m Linda – the mother, wife, and professional organizer behind Organized Bee. I am here to share with you the act of simplifying your life by being organized. I understand and know first-hand the crazy world of organization and want to help eliminate the stress, frustration and craziness of getting organized. We all know that getting organized can be somewhat of a hassle and eventually gets done, however, staying organized is the biggest challenge and that is why I’m here!
All my life, I was taught to be a worker bee. My father and mother instilled great work ethic in me. I learned from early on that with strong perseverance, you can become anything you want to be. College was not an option; it was mandatory. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and furthered my education with a Masters of Administration.
Throughout my entire life, I have been very obsessed with organization.
Growing up, the clothes in my drawers had to be folded perfectly, my shoes in the closet had to be placed a certain way and the clothes hanging in my closet had to be organized by season, color and length. My friends and family have always teased me for being organized, but that is just who I am. I was, and am, obsessed with being neat.
In 2011, the most amazing thing happened to me – I became a Mother. Becoming a mother is something that forever changes you and also defines the cliché “busy as a bee”. With each child that entered our lives, came many new obstacles of maintaining an organized home. We now have three beautiful children who keep us on our toes at all times, but it has not stopped me from maintaining an organized lifestyle.
So here I am today, a stay-at-home mother who has decided to take my passion for organization and turn it into a way of helping others. I am eager to help you Live Happy, Be Organized.
Our Logical Approach to Organization
At Organized Bee, we believe in Common Sense Organizing – This means keeping items that go together near where they’re used most often. Items for the kitchen shouldn’t be in a laundry room. Your laundry detergent shouldn’t be stored in the garage. Reams of paper should be stored by the printer with any excess in a well-organized office storage area.
Real estate is critical for Common Sense Organizing. Manage your space in a way that makes the most sense to find the items you need. For example, if you wear something only a few times a year, keep it stored out of the way in a secondary space dedicated to items like that. If your office uses coffee pods daily, don’t store them on another floor far from the coffee maker. Storage isn’t about throwing items in the first place you see empty space. There should be a reason an item is where it is.
To create real estate for the items you need most, don’t hold on to more than you need or more than you use. If an item hasn’t been touched in a year, you most likely don’t need to keep it. The space freed up by getting rid of unused items will make it easier to store something much more important.
Finally, once organized, keeping up with your stuff is half the battle. Throwing out as you go will help keep things organized. When your kids grow out of items and you know you can’t use them, donate them immediately or toss them. Don’t let them pile up and become real estate clutter.
But if you can’t keep up and you find yourself back in a clutter gutter, we’re only one phone call away!
